FoodON is a farm to fork ontology that is registered with OBO Foundry.  CDNO has colloborated closely with FoodON on a number of areas, particularly to ensure the efficient re-use of defined terms and classes.    

A key aspect of the interaction with FoodOn has been to ensure there are well-formed classes relating to the origins of food (eg in crop plants) that re-use terminology from the formal NCBI_taxon organismal classification and the Plant Ontology that formally defines and describes plant parts (eg seed, leaf).
